A PERFECT THRILLER FOR A LONG TIME!!!
I had no expectations when I first began the Chinese drama Mobius (2025). I was absolutely unaware of the storyline and premise, and I hadn’t even seen the trailer. I just went into the drama, taking it at face value. And I was hooked by the action sequences and performances in the first 10 minutes of the show. I couldn’t keep myself from watching the drama. I finished all 16 episodes in just two days and am quite glad to say that was my best drama choice so far!
It doesn’t have an overpowering love angle, but love does play a subtle yet powerful role in the overall plot. The intrigue, mystery, chills, tension, and deception are all essential ingredients of the drama. It truly should be turned into a Netflix series. It is so well-written and directed that I became emotionally attached to our ‘cops’ squad. Spoiler alert: the finale is not sad, but it does make season 2 a must-see!!
So there’s a murder mystery being pursued, as well as the prevention of a foreseen murder declared by the ‘squid.’ Is squid the mastermind behind the murders? Who is ‘squid’? With each episode, the number of suspects grows. Many times, I believe that at this stage, anyone may be the ‘squid’ (the killer). Every character is well-written and has a deep past that gives depth to their actions and behavior. It is impossible to fully understand someone’s personality or motives. We cannot exclude anyone from the suspect list. Dang Qi (the protagonist cop) is a time loop perceiver, which means he remembers loop days (certain days repeat five times, with the fifth time determining the outcome). He is extremely strategic, adaptable, and possesses exceptional fighting abilities and intelligence. Every aspect of the loop day is methodically planned. There is so much that goes beyond the ordinary eyes, and every action has a deeper meaning. The whole scene involving Moma biotech, genetic experimentation, technology, early trials, and revenge adds a unique and unusual dimension to the drama. The story is incredible, with everything unfolding one after the other at the perfect time, with nothing predictable and so many cunning movements created.
Episode 13 was my favorite. I will not provide a spoiler alert, but this is the best episode of the entire drama. The ‘wow’ moment for me. There are no extraneous subplots, a muddled storyline, obvious character roles, or poor execution, making it one of the best thriller dramas of all time. “Corals and trees can map the age and time of the earth. However, over the previous few years, the number of rings has expanded from 365 to more than 400. “Time and space are changing.” This phrase summarizes the fundamentals of the entire drama.
When you approach the end of the drama Mobius (2025), everything starts to make sense. The greater image begins to unveil itself, and it is both breathtaking and amazing. The drama will have you holding your breath and staring at your screen. How one simple research (a genetic one) might result in such drastic changes is only one illustration of what our future world may hold. Scientists, entrepreneurs, investors, heirs, and police officers all manage these developments in a complicated yet dangerous manner. In whose hands will power reside? Can we place our trust in this person? Is it worth living a life for someone else? Can we change our destiny? Witness THE MOBIUS (2025): the traps, breakthroughs, search, and ultimate chase!
